PiezoZoid is a compact analog preamp designed for piezo pickups used on acoustic and bowed string instruments. With a very high 10MΩ input impedance, it provides proper impedance matching and a natural frequency response across a wide range of instruments.
Piezo pickups behave very differently from magnetic pickups and require much higher input impedance to operate correctly. When connected directly to mixers, audio interfaces or standard instrument inputs, the result is often a thin sound, harsh highs and unstable low frequencies.
PiezoZoid provides a 10MΩ input impedance that allows piezo pickups to deliver their full frequency range and dynamic response without coloration or loss of detail.
Unlike instrument-specific solutions, PiezoZoid is designed as a universal front-end for a wide variety of piezo-equipped instruments. It works equally well with violin, cello, acoustic guitar, double bass and contact microphones.
This makes PiezoZoid a practical solution for musicians who play multiple instruments or require a compact, reliable piezo interface for different setups.
The analog circuit is optimized to preserve the natural tonal balance of acoustic instruments. Excessive low-frequency buildup and harsh piezo artifacts are gently controlled without compromising articulation or dynamics.
As a result, the instrument retains its acoustic character while becoming easier to amplify and mix in both live and studio environments.
PiezoZoid is designed to be small and easy to integrate into any signal chain. It can be placed directly after the pickup, mounted on a pedalboard, or carried as a standalone solution for rehearsals and performances.
The stable output level allows for long cable runs and seamless connection to pedals, mixers and audio interfaces.
